As a parent, how can I get involved?

We have a number of ways for you as parents to be involved in the SLD. For example, each Thursday morning we have a group of parents gather at the school to pray for the students and the ministry here at Eden. Also we are always looking volunteers for our retreats; if you want information on how you can be involved please be in contact with Alicia (alicia@edenhigh.ca). If you have any other questions on volunteer opportunities please give us a call.

Where does my donation go?

  • Do you ever wonder where your dollar goes? Apparently, now you can find out. While travelling in the U.S. recently I was handed a dollar bill by a cashier. On the bill was the stamp www.wheresgeorge.com I went to the website and found that by registering my particular bill, I could see where it had been as well as track where it would go. (I’m convinced there are still those on this earth with too much time on their hands! But, it was interesting nonetheless.)
  • Keeping with the theme of “tracking dollars,” the Spiritual Life Department would like to share how your donations are making an impact on the lives of students and to say THANK YOU! Your contributions give us the resources to serve the staff and students at Eden. The following are practical ways you help with our programming.
  • * 800+ hrs of one to one mentoring.
  • We are blessed to be interacting with students on a personal level. Our interactions range from “catching up” to helping find hope in the midst of tough circumstances.
  • *135 morning chapels. We have the privilege of teaching God’s Word to students and staff every day. Junior chapels (grades9-10) have continued their overview of thescriptures. Senior chapels (grades 11-12) allow us to look in more detail at specific part of the Bible and to apply them to the way that we live life.
  • *612 hours of retreats including leading and co-ordinating 1900 hrs of volunteer time. Every fall, we host grade retreats at Camp Crossroads in the Muskokas. These retreats offer social activity, leadership development and spiritual direction. We often hear from students that these times are the highlight of the year!
  • *60 small group meetings. Each week male and female students encounter God’s Word in a small group setting. These are invaluable times to build friendships as we share in the lives of students.
  • *200+ hours of staff support
  • We have been able to volunteer in the school by coaching, supervising intramural leagues and attending school trips. In addition to the people hours represented, your contribution has also allowed us to purchase effective (and much needed) resources. For example,
  • Audio equipment such as a wireless microphone and used Video projector. These have enhanced our chapels immensely.
  • Computer software which has increased the use of creative elements in chapel and has helped with our financial accounting and student follow-up database.
  • DVD resources have also added to the effectiveness of our teaching as we offer the students a variety of speakers and topics.
  • And so much more!
  • It really is hard to put a “number” value to what God is doing in the lives of students at Eden.
  • We believe that beyond the tangible evidence of the spiritual impact on students’ lives, there is anticipation of something greater, something eternal. Students will one day graduate from the halls of Eden and will be doctors, social workers, mechanics, woodworkers, pastors, teachers, missionaries, etc. impacting their world and we hope they continue to “learn of Christ and live for Christ” in all they do. We praise God that we get to share in that with you!
  • May God bless you as you partner with us!
  • If we can be of any assistance or if you have any questions please give the SLD a call at 905-646-9884

How does a student make an appointment with someone in the SLD?

The easiest way to make an appointment with one of us is to stop by the office before, between or after class.  We are also accessible by email see our contact info in About Us.
